(KUTV) – 2News has compiled several pictures from our team coverage of today’s competing rallies over guns.

First, a rally promoting 2nd amendment rights began at West High School around 9:30 Saturday morning.

Salt Lake City Police Department said in a tweet that about 1,000 people attended that rally.

As the group was marching, a student-led "March For Our Lives" rally was being organized, also at West High School.

That rally had about 8,000 people, according to Salt Lake City police.

That group then marched to the Capitol, where both groups rallied.

The "March For Our Lives" rally was part of rallies going on nationwide Saturday in many large cities across the United States.

A rally in Washington, D.C. featured students from Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida calling for a ban on assault weapons, extended background checks, and other gun legislation efforts.

2News has posted photos from both Salt Lake City rallies in the gallery above.
